What Is a Ceramic Wall Flower?
A ceramic wall flower is a handmade, kiln-fired ceramic sculpture, 7.5–15 cm across, that mounts to any wall with a single screw — or sits on a shelf when a wall isn't available. Colourfast, waterproof, and entirely indifferent to sunlight, humidity and your travel schedule. These are flowers that don't die. They look the same in fifteen years as the day they arrived, which is more than most plants will tell you.
Start with one and the room looks intentional. Add another each year and the wall becomes a collection — the kind people ask about at dinner parties. It's wall art that didn't come flat-packed, and it grows.
How the flowers are made
Every Chive ceramic wall flower begins as a design drawn in Toronto and ends as a piece shaped by hand, one at a time. The petals are formed and assembled by hand, so no two are exactly alike, then glazed so the colour is fixed in the surface, not painted on top — colourfast, waterproof and indifferent to sunlight.
Designs are original to the studio. Chive Studio has been designing and making this way since 2004 — always original, often copied — and each new collection is drawn, tested and refined in-house before it goes into production. Twelve to twenty new designs a year; the rest is patience.
Original designs since 2004
Chive Studio was founded in Toronto in 2004 by Todd Newgren — always original, often copied. Over two decades of designing ceramic wall flowers and vases, made by hand, with no shortcuts and no sign of slowing down.
The work is stocked at Keramiekmuseum Princessehof in Leeuwarden, Kunsthal Rotterdam, Singer Laren, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs boutique in Paris, the Danish Architecture Center in Copenhagen, and 200+ art galleries and botanical gardens worldwide. Birth flower gift
Pretty flowers in pretty boxes. She was born in June, so she gets the June rose. Your mother is a March baby — daffodil. Your sister, October — marigold. Next year, add one. The year after, another. Three walls, growing; three people who think you're thoughtful; one decision, made once.

Are there customs duties on EU orders?

Who is behind Chive Ceramics?

How are ceramic wall flowers mounted?
Ceramic wall flowers hang on a single screw. Each flower has a keyhole mount on the back: drive one standard screw into the wall, slide the flower over it, and it sits flush. No frame, no adhesive strips, no special hardware. Pieces can also stand on a shelf. A step-by-step guide is in How to hang ceramic wall flowers.

November Birth Flower: The Chrysanthemum
The chrysanthemum is November's birth flower — revered as the Emperor's emblem in Japan, reserved for gravesides across Catholic Europe, and made in fired porcelain by Chive Ceramics. The ceramic version endures long after the season does.
Shaped by Hand: What Handmade Actually Means
Handmade is one of those words that has been used so many times it has lost most of its meaning. Chive Ceramics has been making ceramic flowers without molds since 2004. Here is what that means, why it produces a different result, and why museum gift shops noticed first.
How to Hang Ceramic Flowers
A step-by-step guide to hanging Chive ceramic wall flowers. Every piece has a keyhole slot on the back — it slides over a screw and locks flush.
