How can we help?

Shipping & Delivery

Where do EU orders ship from?

EU orders ship from Rotterdam, the Netherlands, so nothing crosses a customs border on its way to you and there are no duties to pay within the EU. Orders are packed and dispatched within one to three working days of payment. Every flower travels in its own fitted box — pretty flowers in pretty boxes is not a slogan we say lightly.

How long does delivery take?

Delivery within the EU takes 2–5 days from dispatch. Tracking is emailed as soon as your parcel leaves the warehouse. Remote islands and some rural addresses can add a day or two; if your order is a gift with a fixed date, email us and we will tell you honestly whether it will make it.

Do I pay import duties or customs fees?

No. Orders delivered within the EU carry no duties or customs fees, because they ship from inside the EU. chiveceramics.com delivers to the 27 EU member states only. Customers in the UK should order from chiveuk.com, and customers in the United States and Canada from chive.com and chive.ca, so that nobody pays cross-border duties on a Chive order.

What does shipping cost?

Shipping is a flat rate by country and zone, shown at checkout before you pay, and free shipping applies on qualifying orders. Prices on the site already include VAT, so the total you see at checkout is the total you pay — nothing extra at the door.

Which countries does chiveceramics.com deliver to?

chiveceramics.com delivers to all 27 EU member states. For the United Kingdom use chiveuk.com; for the United States and Canada use chive.com and chive.ca. Each store holds its own stock, so you never pay cross-border duties on a Chive order.

Returns & Refunds

What is your returns policy?

You can return any item within 30 days of delivery for a full refund of the purchase price. Items must be unused and in their original packaging. Return shipping is paid by the customer; there is no restocking fee. Refunds are issued to the original payment method within 7 days of the return arriving at our warehouse.

How do I return an item?

Email us through the contact page with your order number and we will confirm the return and give you a returns reference. Pack the flower in its original fitted box, include a note with your order number, and post it with a tracked service to:

Chive c/o Kolibri Logistiek

Transportweg 7-15

Industrieterrein Distripark Doelwijk

2742 RH Waddinxveen

Netherlands

Keep your tracking receipt until the refund is confirmed.

Who pays for return shipping?

The customer pays return shipping, and we recommend a tracked service because ceramic is fragile and untracked parcels cannot be traced if they go missing. We do not charge a restocking fee, and the full purchase price is refunded once the item arrives intact. If the return is because an item arrived damaged or we sent the wrong piece, we cover the return cost or replace the item without asking you to send it back.

Can I exchange for a different flower or colour?

Yes — the simplest route is to place a new order for the piece you want and return the original within the 30-day window for a refund. That way the replacement is on its way immediately rather than waiting on the post. Email us if you would rather we hold the refund and swap it against the new order.

What if my order arrives broken?

Email a photo of the damaged piece and the box to us within 7 days of delivery and we will send a replacement at no charge. Every flower is fired stoneware and packed in a fitted box, so breakage is rare, but it happens. You do not need to return the broken piece unless we ask.

Do I have a legal right to cancel?

Yes. Under EU consumer law you have a 14-day right of withdrawal from the day you receive your order, no reason needed. Our 30-day returns policy runs longer than that statutory period and works the same way: tell us you are returning it, send it back tracked at your cost, and the purchase price is refunded in full.

About the Flowers

What exactly is a Chive flower?

Chive ceramic wall flowers are hand-built stoneware flowers that hang flat on a wall — wall art that didn't come flat-packed. Each one is designed in Toronto by Chive Ceramics and made by hand. They are sold individually, so you can hang one or build a wall of forty, and they are stocked in the Kunsthal Rotterdam, Singer Laren and 200+ art galleries and botanical gardens worldwide.

How are the flowers made?

Each flower is shaped by hand in stoneware clay, dried, fired, glazed and fired again. Ceramic wall flowers are made without molds, so no two are exactly alike; petals differ slightly in curl and thickness the way real ones do. The finished flower is fired hard enough to hang on a wall for decades.

What sizes are the flowers?

Flowers range from roughly 7.5 cm to 15 cm across, and each product page lists the exact size in centimetres. Most walls mix two or three sizes. Our sizes hub on the site groups them at 7.5–10 cm, 10–12.5 cm and 12.5–15 cm if you want to plan a layout by scale.

How do I hang them?

Each flower has a hanging hole on the back and hangs on a single small screw; no adhesive or hardware is supplied or needed. Our guide to hanging ceramic wall flowers on the blog covers spacing, grouping and hanging on plaster or brick.

Can they go outside?

These are ceramic flowers, not fresh ones — they need no water, light or season, and they are made for indoor walls. A sheltered exterior wall, porch or balcony is fine too, as long as the flower is under cover. They are glazed stoneware, so keep them out of standing water.

How do I clean them?

Dust with a soft dry cloth or a soft paintbrush. For anything stickier, wipe with a damp cloth and mild soap and dry immediately. Do not put them in a dishwasher and do not use abrasive pads on the glaze.

Which collections are available in the EU?

Five collections ship from the Netherlands: English Garden, France, Japan and Coastal, with Coral coming soon. The Birth Flower range and curated sets are drawn from these collections. We also make ceramic vases: the Pooley vase series and the Utopia designer vase.

Is every flower in stock at the EU warehouse?

Everything listed on chiveceramics.com is held at our Netherlands warehouse and ships from there. If a design shows as sold out, sign up for the back-in-stock notice on its product page; new firings arrive roughly every two months. We do not ship EU orders from Canada.

 Do prices include VAT?

Yes. All retail prices on chiveceramics.com are in euros and include VAT. Chive Ceramics is incorporated in the Netherlands and follows standard EU VAT rules. Trade prices on the trade page exclude VAT, which is added at invoice.

Can I change or cancel an order after placing it?

Yes, if it has not yet been dispatched. Email us through the contact page as soon as possible with your order number. Once a parcel has left the warehouse it is covered by the 30-day returns policy instead.

Do you offer gift wrapping or gift messages?

Every flower already ships in its own fitted box, which is why so many customers send them as gifts without further wrapping. You can add a gift message in the notes field at checkout and we will include it as a card. Prices never appear on the packing slip.

Trade & Wholesale

Does Chive sell to the trade?

Yes. Chive Ceramics supplies galleries, museum shops, garden centres, concept stores and independent retailers across Europe from the same Netherlands warehouse. Trade accounts and Faire EU ordering are handled on our trade page, where you will find trade terms, order minimums and the application form.

Does Chive exhibit at trade shows?

Yes. Exhibiting at Maison & Objet Paris since 2024 and at Ambiente Frankfurt in 2026, and — for the garden trade — exhibiting at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show since 2013; twice awarded the 5-star booth award — only two are given each year. Awarded a 4-star booth award at the 2026 show. Dates for the coming season are posted on the trade page, and buyers can book a stand appointment by email.

Where is Chive stocked in Europe?

Chive is stocked at the Kunsthal Rotterdam, Singer Laren and a growing list of European galleries, museum shops and design stores, all listed on our European stockists page. Worldwide the flowers are in 200+ art galleries and botanical gardens.

Do trade prices include VAT?

No. Trade prices exclude VAT. Chive Ceramics is incorporated in the Netherlands and follows standard EU VAT rules: Dutch VAT is added at invoice for Dutch buyers, and buyers elsewhere in the EU with a valid VAT number are invoiced under the reverse-charge mechanism. Retail prices on the main site include VAT.
