The Yellow Green Pompom Mum is a ceramic wall flower — handmade by Chive, built from the mum variety that exists at a particular intersection of exuberance and restraint: fully round, yellow-green, a color that was ahead of itself before the design world caught up. There is a woman at every high school football game who has been making pompoms since 1987 and has no intention of stopping, and she would like it noted that she was doing yellow-green before it was a color anyone respected. The pompom mum is named for its form: densely packed petals arranged into a perfect globe, every one of them aware of its placement. It hangs on any wall. No water. No maintenance. Wall hanging
Works on drywall, plaster, or wood panelling. Drive a small screw at a slight upward angle, leaving the head proud of the wall. Slide the keyhole slot on the back over the screw head, adjust to level. Sits flush — no visible hardware.
No stud? No problem. A drywall anchor rated for the weight works fine.
Displaying a collection
Lay everything out on the floor first. Start with your anchor piece, build outward. Keep 2–3 inches between each piece and aim for the centre of the whole arrangement to land around eye level. Use painter's tape on the wall to map positions before committing to any screws.
Table & shelf display: Equally beautiful propped on a shelf, mantle, or side table. Pair with books, candles, or a small pot.
